Statues of Louis Riel

Statues of Riel

located at the Parliament buildings in Winnipeg, Manitoba

Queen Victoria 16 Kb

This is not Louis Riel.

At the front of the Provincial Legislature Building in Winnipeg, you find
this fairly small (almost life size) statue of Queen Victoria.

Riel near Leg. 19 Kb

This is the statue of Louis Riel which is presently located in a prominant position behind the Manitoba Legislature building. Below is a close up of the front of this statue.

Riel near Leg. 22 Kb

This is the front view.

It is a fairly realistic depiction of Riel when he was about 25 years old,
at the time when Manitoba became a province.
